Question card apps turn your phone into a deck of conversation starters. You pick a deck, draw a card, and answer out loud. We compared 7 of them on price, free content, languages and who they're for.
Yes, we make Judge Machine. That's why every fact about the other apps comes straight from their App Store or Google Play listing (checked September 10, 2026), with a link. Spot something out of date? Email [email protected] and we'll fix it.
Why Judge Machine
Every kind of night
Just the two of you. A table where nobody knows anybody yet. Two hours in a car. A family dinner that needs rescuing. A long night with the friends who already know you. One app covers all of it.
17 decks, 1000+ questions
Dilemma: both options are bad and you still have to pick
Partner: the thing neither of you brings up
Movie: the film you will defend against the whole table
Trust: the question you have not asked in months
…and 13 more, each with its own mood.
14 languages
Everyone at the table can play in their own language. Most question card apps are English only.
One phone, the whole table
Put the phone in the middle and take turns. No pairing two phones, no asking everyone to download an app.

FAQ
What is a question card app?
A question card app puts a deck of conversation prompts on your phone. You pick a deck, draw a card and answer the question out loud with your partner, friends or family. It works like a physical card game such as TableTopics or We're Not Really Strangers, without carrying cards around.
Are there free question card apps?
Yes. Judge Machine is free to start (1 free deck), and most other apps in this comparison also have a free tier; the table above shows what each one includes for free.
Which question card app works in several languages?
Judge Machine supports 14 languages, including English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Turkish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Paired supports English, French and German. The other apps we checked are English only.
Which question card app works for couples, friends and family?
Judge Machine is built for all of them. It has decks for date night and partners, for friends and for family, and it works for groups too, in 14 languages. Most other apps in this comparison focus on couples.
How we checked
On September 10, 2026 we read each app's US App Store and Google Play listing, plus the developer's website where the store page left a gap. Prices are the US prices shown on those listings. The App Store often doesn't show whether a purchase is weekly, monthly or yearly, so we say "periods not shown" instead of guessing. Prices change often, so check the store before you buy.
We left out apps with very few users or no recent updates, apps that aren't really question card games (such as shared calendars), and physical card decks without an app. We're Not Really Strangers doesn't have an official app, so it isn't included.
Keep the room talking.
